The one day poet was wandering here and there. He was all by himself. Suddenly he came to a place where a large number of daffodils were growing. Those were bright yellow in color and appeared to be swaying in the breeze. They had grown by the side of a lake and were as thickly packed together as the stars in the Milky Way. At one glance the poet could see innumerable daffodils. He was struck by their beauty and the way they appeared to be dancing with joy.
The waves in the lake too were tossed about by the breeze. Thus, these waves, too, appeared to be dancing. But the dance of the daffodils was far more joyful than that of the waves. In this happy place, the poet's heart was filled with happiness and he stood for a long time enjoying this beautiful scene.
At the time the poet did not realize how valuable this experience was for him. Later when he went back to the city and was in moods of depression or fatigue, he would remember this scene and feel greatly relieved.
