Q. 1. Read the extract given below and answer the questions that follow :

         

      They stretched in never-ending line
      Along the margin of a bay;

(a)What are the 'They'? Where were they have seen? 

Ans- 'They" are the flower plants of daffodils they are seen by the poet beside the lake under the tress&over the hills.

(b) What has already been said to describe them?

Ans- The poet says that daffodils have but an impression on the river so whenever he because them his beard starts dancing & he forgets his sadness.

(c) Give the meanings of 'stretch' and 'never-ending'. What were they doing?

Ans- Stretched means the flowers stretch their turns to welcome the breezy wind. Never-ending means they are spread over a very large area. They are doing with joy.

(d) Why does the poet use a particular number? What is it? What poetic device is used here? Explain.

Ans- The poet used a particular member to make it Hyperbole. It is 10,000. It is a hyperbole because how could a part count the flower at a glance.



(e) What was special about their dance? Give another word for each of the following  (a) group,  (b) shine, (c) look, (d) joy, (e) happiness.

Ans- They are joyful welcoming the spring & losing their heads to dance group- sparkle joy-gay shine. sparkle happiness pleasure look-gaze. 

Q.2. Read the extract given below and answer the questions that follow:

     For oft, when on my couch I lie,
       In- or in- mood,
       They flash upon that inward eye
       Which is the bliss of solitude;

(a) Which two words should fill in the blanks? Try to define the two moods mentioned here.

Ans- Two words are- pensive and thoughtful. The two word are used here to express sadness or solitude. When a person become thoughtful and dejected.

(b) Why does the stanza begin with 'For'?

Ans- The stanza begins with 'For' to show the wealth which the poet had earned while seeing thousands of daffodils on the hill near the 'lake'.

(c) Where do they appear? How is the inward eye defined?

Ans- They (Daffodils) appear in the poet's mind in the word eye (mind) is defined to have an image of that beautiful scene of daffodils seen in the poet.

(d) Who/What are 'they' referred to here? When and how had the poet had come across them?

Ans- 'They' is referred to as the Daffodils here in the poem. The part had come across them while he was wandering on a hill near a lake.

(e) Bring out the significance of the verb 'flash' in the third line.

Ans- The word 'flash' keeps great significance in the extract. As a flash of light kills. The darkness at once, so as the beautiful memory of daffodils deprivers sadness study for away from the poet for some time.
